In the web circulates the wrong information that Paraguay has limited or is going to limit farmland sales to foreigners. There is absolutely nothing to that. It originated from an AP press report in October 2008, that again got wrong a Government of Paraguay statement. That stated that the existing law, prohibiting the sale of land to Brazilians within the frontier region to the brazilian border, was to be enforced more thoroughly. Investment in farmland or virgin land is mainly unrestricted for foreigners. Restrictions apply when you are a national of one the countries, that border Paraguay (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil), then you can not hold land in certain border areas. Anybody further interested might want to contact his country´s embassy or Chamber of Commerce in Paraguay.
